Nestled away in Waterloo is an incredible collaborative project that brings a little bit of the countryside to a very central London location. Run by Jamie's Farm & Oasis Waterloo, this is a city farm like no other. Who would have thought that this former piece of wasteland would be transformed into this beautiful oasis in the heart of the city - a place to find pigs, potatoes, chickens, and for one night only - comedians!
On Thursday 18th April, Oasis Farm Waterloo are opening the doors to their barn for a star studded comedy line up that is not to be missed! This comedy showcase will include performances from Tez Ilyas, David Mills and Jay Foreman, all hosted by the wonderful Carly Smallman.
Tez Ilyas, a regular guest on shows including Mock the Week, The Last Leg and Live from the Comedy Store, has been described by the Telegraph as “candyfloss with a razorblade inside: sweet and familiar at first, then shockingly, painfully sharp. It’s the kind of manoeuvre that takes serious talent to pull off”.
Next up, London-based American actor, comedian and cabaret performer David Mills. David has performed solo shows all across London at venues including the Soho Theatre, Leicester Square Theatre and the Oval Theatre. He will treat you to carefully crafted jokes described by The Scotsman as "sparkling little missiles loaded with wit!".
Finishing up the trio for the evening is Jay Foreman. Comedian, singer-songwriter and YouTuber, Jay has previously performed at the BBC New Talent Pick of the Fringe and will treat guests to a night of clever lyrics and catchy songs! He never fails to impress audiences with his signature song, recalling all of London's tube stations.
The whole event will hosted by Carly Smallman, a hugely successful musical comedian who has set up BYOB Comedy (Bring your Own Baby Comedy) - a lunchtime comedy club for parents. She has appeared on countless shows including The Rob Brydon Show and Viral Tap and will be responsible for keeping this gaggle of comedians in check!
All proceeds from the evening will be donated directly to Jamie's Farm - a charity close to our hearts. The team at Jamie's Farm run week long residential projects to engage the most vulnerable students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The programs are designed to help these young people develop the resilience, self esteem, relationships and behaviours that will enable them to be academically, socially and emotionally successful in the future. This is one of many projects run by Oasis Waterloo who aim to enact change in communities through engagement in a range of projects that all place emphasis on building long lasting relationships with people within our local community. These include the brilliant Oasis Waterloo Farm, a Foodbank, running club, youth football team, church, debt advice service, The Hub Coffee Shop, Oasis Playspace and two schools to name just a few! They really are transforming Waterloo.
